About Eliot Weinman
For over 20 years, Mr. Weinman has been a successful business leader and entrepreneur in high technology media. Mr. Weinman is the president of Yankee Group’s events and publishing division where he is responsible for creating groundbreaking global industry events and publications that investigate the challenges and opportunities of the global connectivity revolution. Mr. Weinman is the founder and conference chair for the following industry leading tradeshows: 4G World™, WiMAX World® and Mobile Internet World™ www.4GWorld.com. Since 1988, Mr. Weinman has founded and sold four highly successful integrated media firms all focusing on emerging technology markets. Mr. Weinman has been an influential thought leader in high technology. He has created and produced over 150 conferences and tradeshows, several leading trade magazines and newsletters, and has consulted to many of the world’s leading technology companies. His original conference programs and writings have influenced millions of business professionals throughout the world. His articles, research studies and personal interviews have appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, Information Week, CNET, and many other business and technology publications.
In 2004, he founded Trendsmedia, which focused on the emergence of wireless broadband technologies, and created WiMAX World, which became the fastest growing tradeshow in the telecommunications market. In 2006, he sold Trendsmedia to Yankee Group Research.
Mr. Weinman co-founded Robotics Trends in 2003, an integrated media firm which focused on the emerging personal and service robotics marketplace. He co-developed the two largest robotics industry tradeshows in the Western hemisphere from 2003 to 2006, RoboNexus and RoboBusiness Conference & Expo, and in 2006 sold Robotics Trends. He founded Intermedia Group in 1998 and raised private equity from META Group, a publicly held company (now part of Gartner Group: NYSE - IT). In just over three years he built the company into a leading integrated conference and media firm focused on emerging information technology (IT) markets. In March 2001 he sold Intermedia Group to internet.com (now WebMediaBrands, Nasdaq: WEBM).
In 1989, Mr. Weinman founded Software Productivity Group (SPG), which became the leading integrated publishing, conference and research firm focused on the enterprise software development marketplace. In March 1996, Mr. Weinman sold SPG to Ullo International. During this period he was the founding publisher/editor of Application Development Trends, the only commercial magazine that focused on the enterprise development market for Global 2000 companies.
